New Year’s Resolution: Do Not Forget the Three-Click Rule

News | 2nd Jan

After the Christmas and New Year celebrations have passed for yet another year it is time to turn our attention to 2013 and SEO!

The three-click rule is an unofficial web design rule which SEO and web designers live by. It concerns the design of your website’s navigation and should never be forgotten, that’s if you want better interaction on your site while lowering your bounce rate.

Jungle understands how difficult at times it can be to keep on top of Google’s latest algorythm changes, so keeping your sites navigation in check is our best advice if you want to see those figures continuously rise.

The three-click rule is based around the idea that a user of your website should be able to find any information with no more than three clicks of their mouse or handheld device. It is based on the belief that visitors to your site will become frustrated and often leave if they cannot find the information they are searching for within the three clicks.

Although there is no concrete analytical evidence that this is the case, it is commonly regarded among web designers and SEO experts that the three-click rule forms part of a solid site navigation system.

So, this year make sure your site adheres to the three-click rule! If you would like to discuss your site’s search engine optimisation then contact us today!

Happy New Year everyone from the Jungle team!
