Today’s Google Doodle marks the 66th Anniversary of the Roswell UFO incident.
There’s Something Out There…
The Doodle is interactive to say the least, not to mention a little creepy! The point-and-click adventure game needs users to a little green friend as a UFO crash-lands on earth, and she wants to “phone home” (said in an E.T. style voice).
Once your missions is complete, Google then helpfully provides you with the search results for “Roswell UFO incident” for you to scour over, just make sure you don’t do this in the dark!
The Jungle team played the game this morning and loved helping our little “out of this world” green friend back to her planet!
What’s the story behind Roswell?
July 1947, witnesses reported seeing flying saucers and unidentified objects on the ground in Roswell, New Mexico. Conspiracy theories about aliens visiting earth have since become widespread following a July 8 news report printed in The Roswell Daily Record. It’s headline read “RAAF Captures Flying Saucer On Ranch in Roswell Region,” the article also claimed the Roswell Army Air Field’s office of intelligence had recovered a “flying saucer” after a local ranch owner found it on his property!
Authorities have since insisted that the incident was merely nothing more than the recovery of debris from a top secret surveillance balloon, which witnesses mistook for an ‘Unidentified Flying Object.’
Suspicion surrounding the incident was originally founded after a press release issued by a local US military base, mentioned that the crash involved a “flying disk”.
