Google Acquires SEO Giants Channel Intelligence For £78 Million
Search engine Google has splashed out a whopping £78 million (cash) to acquire SEO firm Channel Intelligence. The deal was made yesterday (Feb 6th) and is expected to be finalised before the end of March.
Channel Intelligence made its name in the industry after developing software that allows its clients to rank higher in Google, Bing and other search engine results pages (SERPs). C.I claims they have developed a technology designed to help maximize sales and return on advertising spends with ‘Product Listing Ads’, this direction has become increasingly important for clients.
Channel Intelligence launched into the industry with a strong technological infrastructure and was named as a Google Shopping partner almost immediately.
The announcement of the acquisition was announced C.I’s official blog, revealing that the company has been working with Google for many years and “look forward to the great things we will be able to do together.”
Google made its own comment on the acquisition:
“we want to help consumers save time and money by improving the online shopping experience. We think Channel Intelligence will help create a better shopping experience for users and help merchants increase sales across the web.”.
