Off page SEO is what is done externally to maximise Search Engine ranking performance for target keywords. Off page SEO is something that needs to be done on an on-going basis and includes link building, social media activity, article marketing and blogging. Historically off page SEO consisted of building huge numbers of backlinks to your website. Due to algorithm updates link building is now reliant on the quality of the links rather than the quantity. It is also important that links are built in a natural way to ensure that you are not penalised by Google.

The link quality is concerned with the relevance of the website that the link is coming from and also its page rank and domain authority.

  • Is this site or page ranking well in the search engines?
  • Does this site have a lot of links from other websites?

Another important factor is the way that the sites link to you, sites that use the nofollow tag to link to you or sites that use a redirect to link to you will not be of benefit. Also the search engines look at the text that links to you. If you can get a site to link to you using your targeted phrase (or similar) in the text or alt tag of the link then that is going to help you to rank higher for that particular phrase.

  • Track all active keywords and refine strategy as required
  • Discontinue campaigns if ranking does not improve
