Google’s Senior Vice President of Commerce & Local, Jeff Huber, said on Google+ that in two days they had over 10 million downloads of the app.

Huber took to Google+ to share his delight:

“We’re (Google) excited for the positive reception of Google Maps for iPhone around the world. Congratulations to the Maps Team on the recognition for the passion and hard work they poured into it, for this release and over the last 7+ years.”

The app smashed records and two days into its release has already taken the number one ‘free app’ spot in the Apple App Store and boasts of over 20,000 reviews with a 4.5 star rating.

iPhone owners have had to endure a lengthy wait for the new Google Maps and were not left disappointed as the iOS version has been built from the ground up and has been named the best version of Google Maps, including the Android version.
